Here are some tips to prevent against critical data loss scenario :

Backup your data : Backing up your critical files is the best way to avoid losing any data. Run a backup program regularly or weekly basis to keep a copy of your important data files. It is a good practice to store your backups at an off-site location such as magnetic tape, CDs or DVDs to safe your data from an accidental error, system crash or any other catastrophe.

Employ power failure safeguards : If the power of the computer cut during a write, file system might get corrupted. Therefore, make use of UPS or other power surge protectors to avoid sudden power outage.

Eject drives safely : Use “ safely remove hardware” icon to remove any connected external device. By clicking on this icon, you tell the processor that you want to remove the device and the processor immediately stops any further read/write activity on the disk, otherwise, may result in incomplete data or a corrupted disk.

Beware of human Errors : Sometimes important files may delete accidentally from the system while deleting any other undesirable file or document or the user can intentionally delete vital data without realizing its importance and usefulness. Therefore, before deleting files or other documents from the computer, cross check the file name and the content of the file to ensure that the file is no longer needed.

Install an Anti-virus Program :Viruses and other malware can infect your computer and can damage the hard disk. Therefore, to protect your PC from viruses, run a quality anti-virus or antimalware software and update it regularly to spot even the newest form of malware.
